The Challenge

The OMX team recently completed a move for American luxury retailer Tiffany & Company, which required some planning and problem-solving due to the number of expensive and fragile objects that were to be shipped. The movers were faced with loading and shipping fragile glass display cases, furniture, artwork, as well as 3 chandeliers, one of which being of priceless value. The job also could not be carried out until 6:00 PM, and OMX had to have everything out of the store and loaded by midnight.

The Solution 

In response to these challenges, the moving crew took extra precautions to ensure the safety of their client’s valuables. Display cases were covered with cardboard to protect the glass, then were wrapped with quilted commercial pads, and were finally shrink-wrapped. Artwork was bubble-wrapped and moved in commercial bins. Furniture was pad-wrapped as well as shrink-wrapped. The team had to construct a special crate to contain the priceless chandelier. The crate was built with a steel bar across the top for the chandelier to be hung from. Once the chandelier was positioned in the crate, the crew filled the empty space with recyclable packing peanuts.

Results

In the end, everything was successfully wrapped, loaded, and sent to OMX’s warehouse to be shipped out of state. OMX completed the project on time with no complications or damage to the client’s goods.
