The Challenge

With an international logistics job at hand, History Associates needed 18 large crates of priceless artifacts, maps and documents (most over 200 years old) protected, packed and relocated from San Juan, Puerto Rico to their facility in Rockville, MD. The crates were transported on 2 separate flights for insurance purposes and a moving company, trained and equipped to handle sensitive items, was needed to coordinate receiving the custom-designed containers and carefully uncrating and placing all items upon delivery.

The Solution 

Following extensive planning and coordination, the crates were received at Miami International Airport, cleared Customs and were loaded on two long haul, climate-controlled vehicles for delivery to our warehouse in Beltsville, MD. For final mile transport, we utilized three smaller climate-controlled local delivery vehicles to ensure all sensitive items remained safely preserved. The move team additionally studied how to carefully open and uncrate each container in order to assure each item was fully protected and carefully handled until final placement. This included matching each item to a master inventory list.

Results

Our team not only received, delivered and unpacked the crates on-time, but were also described from our clients as, “professional, friendly and efficient” throughout the process. All items were accounted for in excellent condition.
