Over the span of more than a decade, the OMX Medical team supported multi-phase research facility relocations across the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, including moves into the Cancer Research Buildings and the Edward D. Miller Research Building. These projects involved hundreds of thousands of square feet of active research, clinical, administrative, and laboratory space.
The work required careful planning, experienced field leadership, and a deep understanding of how to move within secure, high-traffic healthcare and research environments without disrupting daily operations.

Because these relocations took place on an active medical and research campus, most move activity was scheduled during evening and overnight hours. The project team mapped pedestrian traffic patterns, reviewed internal access routes, and identified the safest and most efficient pathways for moving materials through occupied facilities.
In many cases, materials were moved through underground tunnels and skybridges rather than relying only on truck transport. This approach helped reduce dock congestion, protect campus operations, and maintain safer movement through high-traffic areas.
Flexibility was essential. Crews, trucks, and equipment were continually adjusted between buildings to keep each phase moving smoothly. Individual phases often required 20–25 personnel, supported by a core group of long-tenured project leaders with deep experience in healthcare, laboratory, and research relocation work.
Through careful coordination, after-hours scheduling, and experienced onsite leadership, the team successfully completed each planned relocation across Johns Hopkins’ research facilities over a 12-year period. The work was completed on schedule, without major disruption, and in alignment with the institution’s operational, safety, and occupancy goals.
